Model Kendall Jenner made waves this weekend when she deleted her Instagram account, leaving her 68 million followers with no explanation.
Jenner, who posted the most-liked photo on Instagram of 2015 (it was her hair laid out in heart shapes), told Allure magazine in the October issue that she occasionally takes a break from social media.
“I find it offensive if you’re with someone at a dinner and they’re just sitting on their phone the whole time,” she told the magazine. “I definitely have close friends, and even some family members, who are so connected to their phone and can’t get off of it. So sometimes I delete Instagram or Twitter or Snapchat off my phone for a couple days.”
Perhaps Jenner might also be taking a break from Instagram following the presidential election. Like many celebrities, Jenner had spoken out in support of defeated Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. Just a day before the election, she urged her followers to get out and vote. But since the surprising election results have rolled in, Jenner has been silent on Instagram.

Still, she hasn’t deleted her Twitter account or Facebook page. The day after the election, she retweeted this quote from Clinton’s concession speech.
It’s no surprise that Jenner left her Twitter account and Facebook page intact. As loyal followers will know, the Kardashian/Jenner family members often use their social media platforms as a marketing tool — and a very lucrative one at that. Jenner has continued to promote the second book in her and sister Kylie Jenner’s young adult fiction series, “Lex and Livia.”
Jenner’s half-sister Kim Kardashian West has also been largely absent from social media, following a robbery during Paris Fashion Week last month. Her sister Khloe Kardashian told Ellen DeGeneres shortly after the incident that Kardashian West was “not doing that well” and that it was “a wake-up call to make a lot of life adjustments,” which for Kardashian West seems to be a break from documenting so much of her life on social media.
Jenner is set to walk in the upcoming Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Paris, so chances are she’ll be back to document her second year in the glamorous show.
